We covered The Cranberries’ for a New York Life spot. Here’s why.

Some creative opportunities arrive with a clear destination. Others invite you to discover something new along the way. Our recent collaboration with Murder Hornet and New York Life Insurance Company felt like both — a familiar melody paired with a challenge to elevate a powerful story.

Finding a New Way Into a Familiar Song

When Murder Hornet shared the concept for the platform launch of New York Life Insurance Company, we saw the potential for a reimagining of “Dreams,” the iconic track by The Cranberries. The creative direction called for music that could carry the emotional arc of the story while offering something new, something intimate, something that could deepen the film’s impact.

Recognizing the opportunity was only the starting point. The real task was to approach the song from a different perspective — one that honored its original spirit while reshaping it to add a new layer of meaning to the story being told on screen.

Crafting an Original Production

To do this, our team built an original production inspired by “Dreams,” transforming the familiar into something more cinematic and emotionally grounded. It became a custom cover designed specifically to fit the pacing, tone, and emotional beats of the film, aligning closely with Murder Hornet’s vision for the launch.

Under the sound leadership of our Head of Production, Elijah Torn, the track evolved into a textured, expressive interpretation that supported each narrative moment. Our Creative Director, Martin Gutierrez, helped shape the musical direction to ensure the piece carried the right nuance and emotional resonance.

A huge thank-you to:

Noel Cottrell and the entire Murder Hornet team for trusting us with such an iconic musical moment

Henry-Alex Rubin and SMUGGLER for the beautiful visual direction

EXILE Edit for their exceptional editorial craft
